I am enjoying my visits to New Brunswick Schools. I love meeting teachers and attempting to make connections with them.
I have connected with teachers who know some of my extended family, most of whom are teachers. I have talked to teachers who have Bathurst connections either because they used to live here or they know teachers who live here. I have made connections with teachers who have shared the successes and challenges they experience on a daily basis.
I believe that making connections is so important. I guess I learned that belief from my mother who can discover a connection with almost everyone she meets. I have followed this belief in my teaching career too. I have always believed that we have to make connections with students before we can hope to have them learn to their potential. Students need to know that their teachers care about them as people; these are the teachers we all remember from our own school days.
I look forward to making more connections with teachers as I continue my school visits. I appreciate the time that teachers have taken, out of their already busy day, to introduce me to colleagues. Some of these teachers have been school reps, school administrators or a teacher who happened to be on a prep.
There are two weeks left until you will be voting for the person who will be your next President. I hope you consider me the worthy candidate.
